It is my first love and how I got the name “Wreath Queen” so many years ago. It is also the reason that I became a Certified Professional Florist. And it all started as a hobby over 13 years ago and has now turned into a business that has evolved into gifting, weddings and seasonal wreath design . Wreath making started as a way for me to have fun with crafts and not care about following any rules.
Eventually neighbours, friends and family asked me to make wreaths for them and I became known as the “Wreath Queen” .
This summer I started receiving calls to join the Holiday by Design show; to come out and showcase my wreaths… I just could not resist. That is why I am taking a trip down memory lane. Today I offer private classes, wreath making classes through the City of Mississauga, and I custom design wreaths only during the Holiday Season for just a hand full of clients.
Below are some of my favorite’s from past years. I enjoyed making them and hope you enjoy looking at some today.
Wishing you a wonderful November and Happy Wreath Hunting,
Kristeen

This wreath was originally purchased by a man who stated that it reminded him of Christmas's he spent as a child in Germany. I have replicated the colours and style many times. Apple green and Copper.

It was a busy year the year I made this wreath for a Doctor who lived in a luxury condo. All her neighbours wanted a version of the same.

This bold wreath has been a favorite for years. The colour of this Holiday Wreath is not traditional but means so much, to so many, for different reasons. I simply made it because I love the colour pink.

The original "Queen" wreath was purchased and and sent to Montreal as a gift from one sister to another a few years ago. It was a large wreath full of Glitz and Glamour.

The organza bow on this wreath was huge! The client wanted to make sure that her wreath was visible from the street. Trendy and fabulous. It was originally custom made for a young couple who had just purchased their first home.
Your work ia BEAUTIFUL! It isnpires me. I am new to this. How ever did you get started. Additionally do you know of any permanent botanical course, or workshops that I might attend….
If you do not mind my asking. what type of photography do you use to to capture the essence aqnd brilliance of your creations….
Hi Andrea, First of all thank you, I am always honored when someone likes my work. I appreciate your kind words.
If I am not mistaken you are from the USA, the best place for you to call for floral design is the AIFD (American Institute of Floral Designers); they will be able to connect you with accredited schools in your area.
If you are interested in gifting…a lot of what you learn in floral design can be applied to gifting. The rest is a lot of self study, reading a lot, spending time studying books from people like Shirley Frazier (big in the US for gifting). There is tons of free information on the internet and then the rest is trial and error.
I use a regular fuji camera, made to capture photos up close. Before you buy a camera speak to a knowledgeable sales person like at Henry’s Photography or Blacks and they should be able to show you a few that will take great up close photographs. My current camera is 3 years old…there are so many great ones on the market. Lighting is key. Take pictures in bright light, during the day and start clicking away.
I hope you found this information useful,
Thank you
Kristeen
